The hand behind KLASS.
Prof. Parkar is a world-renowned laparoscopic gynecologist and the founder of KLASS. He introduced advanced minimally invasive gynecology to East Africa 25 years ago — and continues to train the next generation of surgeons across the continent.

The Story
A career defined by firsts.
When Prof. Parkar returned to Nairobi in the early 2000s with laparoscopic fellowship training from the UK, keyhole surgery for complex gynecological conditions was virtually unheard of in the region. Fibroids meant open surgery. Endometriosis went undiagnosed for years. Ovarian cysts often cost women a fallopian tube — and sometimes their fertility.
He set out to change that. Case by case, workshop by workshop, he introduced advanced minimally invasive techniques to East Africa — training surgeons, upgrading operating theatres, and quietly building what would become KLASS: a centre now trusted by patients from across the continent and beyond.
Today Prof. Parkar personally leads every case at KLASS, from the consulting room at Aster Healthcare through the operating theatre and into recovery. He still teaches. He still consults for hospitals across Africa. And he still believes that the best medicine begins with a real conversation.
